Friends Talk – Things Learned
This post wraps up my first blog series on Quaker values and what they mean to me. I was first introduced to Quakerism when I joined Friends Life Care as a sales manager and plan counselor. That was 5 years ago now. My work anniversary is actually next month. I am happy with achieving that milestone. And I continue to enjoy my job and have a great appreciation for the Friends Life Care organization and my co-workers. This, of course, includes my colleagues at the office and my cat, Max, when I am working from home.
My career has taken me from California to Virginia to Pennsylvania. I have worked at different companies with different cultures; and can honestly say that I have never before seen one like Friends Life Care. Mission-driven, team unified and inspired to serve others…it is a great place to be.
Sharing My Personal Journey
In the series of posts I contributed to the Friends Life Care eMeetinghouse blog, I shared my personal journey. This is a journey which continues now and into the future.
Thank you for reading along as I wrote about what I learned, thought and felt in my personal exploration, participation in Quaker meetings and practice of living the values.
For novices like me, I hope that we could grow in knowledge together. Although members of the Religious Society of Friends already know about the history, testimonies and beliefs, I hope my posts served as a reminder of all these important values. In addition, I hope that my posts may perhaps have even awakened a moment of reflection here or there.

Joylyn Williamson, Inside Sales Manager
Joylyn joined Friends Life Care in 2017 as a sales manager and plan counselor on the sales and marketing team. She brings many years of experience with inside sales in both business-to-business and consumer. Previously she held positions selling to vertical markets like the federal government and meeting tough sales quotas for technology and IT offerings. She is excited to be a part of Friends Life Care and appreciates working in an organization guided by Quaker values that has a mission to serve older adults.
Originally from Southern California, Joylyn has called the east coast home for over 20 years. A couple years back, she relocated her father from California to her home in Pennsylvania. He’ll be 90 in June and she now manages his care as he has a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s. He is her favorite person; and she finds it an honor to care for the man who once took care of her.
Joylyn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Drama, TV and Film and completed some graduate studies in Communications at Regent University. Joylyn volunteers with a local theatre company performing onstage or working behind the scenes.
