Friends Life Care Team Takes Steps To Better Health
Friends Life Care has been helping older adults to successfully age in place since the mid-eighties. Part of that proven formula is having a focus on holistic health and wellness. This summer, Friends Life Care team members “walked the talk” through a company-wide wellness challenge.
Walk with Friends Challenge
The “Walk with Friends Challenge” kicked off on June 19 — the 1st week of summer — and ran until September 24 — last week of summer. The program was designed to encourage our employees to walk more and to track their activity using their preferred fitness app.
Participants had the chance to win gift cards and bragging rights! But the biggest prize of all was getting in the daily steps and making healthy choices about exercise.
Friends Life Care Goes the Extra Mile
The challenge was a huge success, with over 50% of our employees joining in and logging their steps. Together, we walked a total of 11,869,934 steps.
With an average of 2,000 steps in a mile, that means the team walked 5,935 miles which is just about the equivalent of walking across the United States twice.
And the walkers burned an estimated 600,000 calories which is equivalent to 3,000 donuts.
