Friends Life Care Partners Earns Platinum SAGECare Credentialing

Friends Life Care Partners is excited to announce that we have earned platinum SAGECare credentialing!
What Does That Mean?
100% of Friends Life Care Partners staff completed SAGECare online training “Supporting LGBT Older Adults.” Our Leadership Team also met with a SAGECare representative to review our policies and procedures as they relate to the material we learned.
Through this training, we gained a better understanding of the unique needs of LGBT older adults, the various rights and protections extended to LGBT residents, and other best practices for creating communities welcoming to LGBT older adults, their loved ones, and their caregivers. It reflects Friends Life Care’s Quaker value based approach to business.
Friends Life Care Partners has also been added to SAGECare’s publicly searchable site for prospective consumers where we have been identified as an organization that has completed training on LGBT cultural competency. http://sage.nonprofitsoapbox.com/find-a-provider
Who is SAGECare?
SAGECare is a division of SAGE, the country’s oldest and largest non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of LGBT older adults. SAGECare provides LGBT competency training and consulting on LGBT aging issues to service providers.
The Work in Action
Friends Life Care Partners is continuously taking steps to be more inclusive. A few examples of how we are implementing the work follow:
- Staff members were invited to include their pronouns in email signatures and website bios.
- A new, more diverse recruitment platform to post our open positions was identified.
- Technical platforms and websites are being updated to be more inclusive.
Together Friends Life Care Partners and SAGECare will continue our partnership to serve people with the best care possible and make each older person feel comfortable for who they are.

I did not realize there was a huge problem for LGBT seniors, but I am thankful that Friends Life Care did. All of us are “God’s children”
Thank you for your comment and your loving viewpoint of life!
I am an openly queer elder and am working to make my retirement community more welcoming to my peers. I am happy to be a resource for FLC as it works on these improvements. I have many queer friends who fear entering retirement communities and being treated as odd and/or shunned.
Thank you so much for your offer to help – We will reach out to you directly.
