Workshop leader: Stephanie Newberg, LCSW and Andrew Newberg, M.D.
This program is based on the Compassionate Communication program studied by Dr. Andrew Newberg, Stephanie Newberg, and their colleague, Mark Waldman. This workshop, based on the latest scientific findings, including brain imaging studies, introduces the 12 strategies of Compassionate Communication and includes experiential exercises that enhance speaking, listening, and conflict resolution skills in all types of relationships. The workshop will help guide participants through a formal training exercise that teaches individuals how to quickly build social empathy, mutual trust, and cooperation with others. It will teach participants how to confront and communicate about issues that have been hard to address or resolve. Compassionate Communication is fully described and documented in Waldman and Newberg’s book, Words Can Change Your Brain, and in the 2012 issue of the Journal of Executive Education.
Dr. Andrew Newberg is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Radiology, and the Director of Research at the Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine, Thomas Jefferson University.
Stephanie Newberg is a psychotherapist in private practice in Bryn Mawr, PA and is an adjunct professor at the Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and West Chester University Graduate School of Social Work.
The Newbergs, married for 20 years, have presented both individually and together on topics related to the brain, psychology, spirituality, relationships, and communication.
