MEMBER CAREGIVER TESTIMONIALS
Members & Their Families’ Kind Words About Caregivers
Friends Life Care honors exceptional caregivers each year at our Best of Friends Awards Ceremony. Caregivers are nominated by Friends Life Care members and their families. Hear what they say about the compassionate individuals who care for and help them stay in their homes as they age.
Daughter of a member who was on hospice
“I came to stay with my parents to help care for and spend time with my mother. S_______ came every day and took care of my mother as she would have taken care of her own mother. I am a hospital-based physician and I have seen a wide variety of caregivers, and care given…. She provided [my mother] not just with excellent clinical care, but with love and support.”
Daughter of a member in care
“My mom will soon be 101. K______ is one of the main reasons my mom is still with us! Mom says she feels like she is in a luxury hotel! We marvel at [K___’s] ability to notice small changes that enable care changes to remedy a medical condition… Thanks to K________, mom has wonderful meals and comfort, orchids growing everywhere, laughter, peace, and a wonderful life.”
Husband of a member in care
“N_______ encourages [my wife] to achieve to the maximum of her potential and is responsible for a remarkable regaining of mobility, alertness, and responsiveness. But more importantly, she truly loves [my wife] and is totally invested in her well-being.”
Daughter of a member who was receiving services
“Z_____ effectively engaged family, hospice caregivers, and brought enough of her authentic self to her work to be compassionate and supportive… She never stopped seeing my mother as a whole person – one who deserved dignity and gentleness.”

“[J______ is an] excellent caretaker, not here just to do a job. Here to care for the people. PRO ACTIVE”
Wife of a member on services for two years
“J________ was the most remarkable person. Not only did she take care of bathing, walking, climbing the stairs, etc., [she] was always on the lookout for any problems he might have…”
Daughter of a member in care
“C______ doesn’t just stay passively in our Mother’s apartment…. She takes my Mother out to get her haircut when needed. She takes my Mother to get her nails done which my Mother never did before! My Mother’s cognitive functioning has deteriorated so C_______ tries to engage her. She also has a sixth sense knowing how my Mother feels and can anticipate how best to handle a situation- whether my Mother needs to be spoken to a certain way so that she is more likely to express herself or whether it’s a good time to walk a visitor down the hall to the elevator. … When C_____ is taking care of our Mother, we feel confident all is under control. Lastly, my Mother smiles when I tell her C_____ will be back on Monday. That says it all!!!”

“C_______ took care of me when I broke my hip this summer. I am an active 90 year old… I had 4 helpers from Friends Life Care – all very good. But one was exceptional, and that was C______. She is very bright and intuitive. She knew when to come forward, and when to stand back. When I needed something, she seemed to look at me, and read my mind. I didn’t even have to ask. She could also do anything. When I ordered toilet seat elevators, they arrived, and immediately she installed them. She was a perfect assistant to an elder with a broken limb. When it was her day off, I was sad, and couldn’t wait for her to return.”

“When I returned home from the hospital feeling very, very sick and very weak…L ________ was a kindly, supportive and encouraging presence…. Through many days when I felt quite wretched, L _____ stayed strong and optimistic about my recovery.”
Wife of a member who was receiving services
“[B______] instantly became part of our lives. He quietly took care of [my husband], anticipating his needs, answering any request from morning to bedtime. … He is no longer a care aide for us, … but he continues to be an important and devoted friend to our entire family.”
Wife of a member in care
“E_______ has fit right in with my husband and me since the first day he arrived. … The first thing you notice about E______ is his cheerfulness- he brightens up the day. The next thing is he gets right to work with his responsibilities. …. [My husband]’s behavior and consideration of others has improved! It is such a pleasure to have someone come into our house who enjoys his work and who never has to complain. We are so thankful for E______. He has been an enormously helpful and enjoyable addition to our lives.”
