Friends Life Care & SpiriTrust Lutheran join resources to expand Continuing Care at Home program in Central PA

(January 9, 2017) Plymouth Meeting, PA – Friends Life Care Partners is pleased to announce that it has entered into an agreement with SpiriTrust Lutheran® of York to co-brand and launch a Continuing Care at Home (CCAH) program. This arrangement will allow both organizations to expand their missions through innovative and exceptional senior services and care. The program, launching in early 2017, will give older adults another option to remain living at home longer.

“We are delighted to join resources with SpiriTrust Lutheran and bring our distinctive services to the people of central Pennsylvania,” said Carol A. Barbour, president of Friends Life Care. “Friends Life Care’s philosophy is centered upon vitality, independence, growth and resilience and enables us to launch and maintain a strong partnership with SpiriTrust Lutheran.”

Clearly the composition of America’s aging population is changing greatly, mainly due to the very important baby boomer generation.  The U.S. Census Bureau reports that 8.7 million people will be 85 or older by 2030 — the year when all baby boomers join the 65 and older population.  According to research, nearly 90% of people want to stay in their own home as they age.  Partnering with SpiriTrust Lutheran to expand the time-tested Continuing Care at Home program from Friends Life Care provides more people with more options to age in place.

“Friends Life Care offers the first and largest continuing care at home program in the country,” explained Angela Dohrman, senior vice president and COO for SpiriTrust Lutheran. “The Friends Life Care program provides a truly unique combination of care coordination and financial benefit needed to help ensure older adults have the resources and support that they will need to remain in their own homes as they age.  If home care is ever needed, it will be coordinated by Friends Life Care and provided by SpiriTrust Lutheran’s trusted network of caregivers.”

Friends Life Care and SpiriTrust Lutheran will begin holding informational seminars in February. These seminars will provide more detailed information regarding membership in the continuing care at home program.

Friends Life Care is nationally recognized for its continuing care at home program. The not-for-profit, mission-focused Quaker organization is known for its expertise, integrity and product strength, all vital components for a successful partnership with SpiriTrust Lutheran.  Annually, SpiriTrust Lutheran serves more than 21,000 individuals in a region encompassing 20 counties in Pennsylvania and three counties in northern Maryland.

More information about SpiriTrust Lutheran and Friends Life Care can be found at www.FriendsLifeCare.org and www.SpiriTrustLutheran.org respectively.

Friends Life Care offers long-term care protection by providing wellness programs, home health care, related personal-care services and facility care to enrolled members in the Philadelphia and Delaware areas. Individuals and couples become members of Friends Life Care in order to protect their independence, guard their financial security and gain peace of mind. All member care is coordinated by a team of credentialed and selected professionals and provided by carefully screened aides.

SpiriTrust Lutheran® began serving the community in 1951 by providing outreach services to families and seniors in York County. Today, SpiriTrust Lutheran provides senior living services; home health care, hospice care and in-home support; a program designed to enhance the ability of seniors to live safely in their homes; and a broad spectrum of other life-enhancing services. The SpiriTrust Lutheran service area includes Adams, Berks, Carbon, Centre, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Lackawanna, Lancaster, Lehigh, Luzerne, Monroe, Northampton, Perry, Schuylkill and York counties in Pennsylvania and Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties in northern Maryland.
