This month, Friends Life Care Partners proudly begins a new round of SAGECare training with “Guidance and Grace: Preparing LGBTQ+ Older Adults for End of Life.”

This specialized training explores the unique, and often underrecognized, needs of LGBTQ+ older adults when planning for end-of-life, coping with serious illness, and navigating final arrangements. It also highlights the importance of legal documentation and the nuances of LGBTQ+ relationships throughout life’s final chapters. 

If 80% or more of Friends Life Care Partners staff complete this training, the organization will once again earn the SAGECare Platinum Credential, marking our fifth consecutive year achieving this honor. 

Awarded by SAGECare, the credentialing and training division of SAGE (Services & Advocacy for LGBTQ+ Elders), Platinum status reflects the highest level of commitment to fostering affirming, inclusive care for LGBTQ+ older adults. It’s a powerful demonstration of our values: creating safe, respectful, and welcoming environments for every individual we serve.

For many LGBTQ+ individuals, aging presents distinct challenges including the risk of discrimination, social isolation, and limited access to affirming care. These barriers can affect not only quality of life but also health outcomes and emotional well-being.
